Ok, so now its May and your starting to think about your marketing plan for 2010. Your not the first business to wait. So, what type of marketing should you be doing. There are several avenues to take, but one of the least expensive and highly trackable is email marketing. According to eMarketer, 2010 is going to be a good year for email marketing. A December survey revealed that 69% of respondents plan to increase spending on email marketing efforts – more than any other marketing strategy.

No Email Fridays…One Possible Answer to Email Overload

Do you receive too much email? Are you bogged down and frustrated by how much time it takes to handle these snippets of online communication? According to a recent global study conducted by IABC (International Association of Business Communicators) the resounding answer is YES! In fact, so much so that our drowning in email is actually causing us to be less productive.

According to the study, the biggest culprits, or sources of email overload are:

  • News sources and professional subscriptions (61 %)
  • Co-workers (39%)
  • Professional networks (34%)
  • Team/department sources (29%)
  • Company wide corporate sources such as senior mgmt and HR (23%)

Microsoft Adds Facebook Support Within Outlook

Last Wednesday, Microsoft announced that the company would officially launch Facebook (and other social networks) into their Outlook 2010 Beta product with Outlook Social Connector. Following the previous week’s announcement about Google Buzz, and rumors that Facebook would be launching their own email product, we found out details about Outlook’s new integration. The service will let you “view friends’ activities, photos, and status updates within Outlook—as well as grow your network by adding friends from the same view”.
