Buzzsprout: Podcasting Easy

We recently came across a new online podcast service called Buzzsprout. Buzzsprout enables the layman in podcasting to create a site, rss feed, itunes feed and the ability to embed a podcast into a website. The services look great so we signed up and wanted to share alittle more about them with you.

Features

Ease of Use

One of the many features Buzzsprout has is it’s easy of use. The signup was very simple and we created a page within minutes, including uploading a custom logo. They also have an option to be able to create a custom url and to choose a template background and colors or upload an existing image to matched your current website. The setup including signup and customization of the background and logo took about 5 minutes.

Upload once, auto-update everywhere

Once you upload your mp3 and details for that episode, Buzzsprout automatically updates your Buzzsprout website, as well as your RSS Feed, iTunes feed, and any embedded players that you have running on your website.

Promotion Tools Help You Get the Word Out

Buzzsprout provides your own customizable podcast website, along with Flash players, iTunes listings, and code to embed single episodes or your entire podcast on any website.

Buzzsprout Statistics

Monitor Your Statistics

We have not had an opportunity at this time to really dig into the statistics but they seem to be adequate. Each account has the ability to get a real time play count on each episode. You also can discover which episodes are the most popular, the average number of plays per episode, or monitor your entire podcast play count over time.

Rich Admin Dashboard

The Admin area allows for easy upload of audio, including title, descriptions, dates, author, and tags.

The Promotion area allows for you to send your podcast feed out to the world. You can promote it on your Buzzsprout site, your own website using javascript, and the ability to promote it to several other podcasting services such as Odeo, PopFeed, Podcast Alley, and others. Buzzsprout will link to your iTunes account and keep your iTunes channel current.

The Statistic tab enables for you to see the number of downloads, the last 5 episodes, most popular, average plays, and trends. Looks to be a very useful tool.

Pricing

Pricing is very reasonable for the service. Again, this is really a hands off approach to podcasting that anyone can do. Pricing ranges from a FREE account with 2 hours of podcasting per month included. Below are their other pricing plans.

We will follow up with this post regarding statistics (once we have some) to let you know how they work. Overall, this looks to be one of the simpliest and most flexible services out there. Plus, they offer a Buzzsprout Podcast WordPress Plugin, which is a huge help for those that have WordPress blogs.
